BBAC Launches "Lush Mountains Book Corner" Marking A Dual 20th Anniversary and Advancing Green Development In a move to fully implement Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization and put the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" into practice, BBAC has launched the "Lush Mountains Book Corner" project recently, becoming the first company in the domestic manufacturing industry to receive this honor. This initiative aligns with the requirements of the Implementation Plan for In-Depth Development of the "Beautiful China, I am an Actor" Campaign Series (Environmental Protection Publicity and Education [2024] No. 28), jointly issued by nine ministries and commissions of the State Council, including the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. It also serves as a model for how the manufacturing industry embraces General Secretary Xi Jinping’s new development philosophy of "innovative, coordinated, green, open, and shared development".
The timing of this inauguration is particularly significant, as it coincides the 20th anniversary of both BBAC's founding and the "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" concept itself. This project is a clear demonstration of BBAC's commitment to the call of the times and showcases how the company is translating a new development philosophy into a sustainable business strategy.
Ding Zhiyong, the project head of "Lush Mountains Book Corner", stated, "This year marks the 20th anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping's 'lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets' philosophy. Implementing this project at BBAC is a prime example of green development in action. BBAC is taking concrete steps to contribute to national ecological civilization efforts, creating a model of Sino-German capital cooperation for the comprehensive and accurate implementation of the new development philosophy." Jörg Bartels, President & CEO of BBAC, noted, "Every generation has its own ‘Long March’, our generation's ‘Long March’ is the path of green transformation and low-carbon development. The 'Lush Mountains Book Corner' is another innovative measure we've taken to promote green transformation. As a vital component of Mercedes-Benz’s global production network, BBAC is systematically turning our green vision into reality." Zhang Zhengye, Party Secretary and Senior Executive Vice President of BBAC, said, " The ‘Lush Mountains Book Corner’ is an important tool for us to implement the new development philosophy. It will work alongside with our existing environmental protection measures to build a green operation system involving all employees. BBAC will continue to fully and accurately implement the new development philosophy and interpret the profound meaning of ‘If we do not fail Nature, Nature shall never fail us’ with practical actions." As part of the project, BBAC will establish branches of the "Lush Mountains Book Corner" in workshops and office areas, creating a green reading network that reaches all employees. By promoting environmental protection concepts through cultural empowerment, it aims to inspire employees' green awareness and help BBAC create a multi-dimensional ecosystem of green culture.
From Culture to Action: BBAC Systematically Upgrades Its Green Practices Green development has long been deeply ingrained in BBAC's DNA. In recent years, BBAC has accelerated its transition to “electrification, digitalization, and low-carbonization.” Among these, this shift to low-carbon operations has been driven by systematic and innovative measures that continuously transform the new development philosophy into tangible actions, establishing a sustainable system characterized by green production, electric products, and intelligent operations. In green manufacturing, BBAC has consistently built high-standard, low-carbon plants, widely applying environmental protection technologies such as photovoltaic power generation, ground-source heat pumps, solar water heating systems, rainwater recycling, and wastewater reuse. Currently BBAC can achieve annual photovoltaic power generation over 32,000MWh and will achieve capacity of 88.4MWp by October 2025. Besides that BBAC bought over 300,000MWh green electricity in 2024 and purchase amount increase continuously this year. BBAC aims to achieve 100% green electricity supply in 2026.
On the green products front, the upcoming all-new CLA is the first mass-produced model from BBAC based on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) platform. This marks BBAC's comprehensive entry into the development cycle of next-generation luxury electric vehicles, promoting the deep integration of electrification and low-carbonization. For green operations, BBAC has established an intelligent green operation system by deploying an Energy Management System (EMS), a Building Management System (BMS), and an AI-driven energy data analysis platform. By introducing predictive maintenance and digital twin models, BBAC has developed an intelligent energy operation and maintenance platform to improve energy efficiency, driving dual leaps in carbon reduction and efficiency improvement in operations. The launch of the "Lush Mountains Book Corner" represents a strategic expansion of BBAC's approach of using culture to shape attitudes and then driving action. It also opens a new chapter in the deep integration of the company's green culture with its production practices. Standing at the new starting point of the dual 20th anniversary, BBAC will continue to be guided by the new development philosophy, steadfastly pursuing its strategy of prioritizing ecology and green development. In its pursuit of high-quality development, the company aims to write an even more brilliant green chapter and contribute significantly to the construction of a "Beautiful China". |
