[April 16, 2024, Beijing] The first quarter of 2024 saw BBAC drive new advances in production and operation, laying a solid foundation for moving towards its yearly objectives. All-new E-Class L Plug-in Hybrid Model (E 350 e L) rolled off the line at BBAC, representing continued progress for Mercedes-Benz strategy. At the same time, after the cumulative output of vehicles exceeded 5 million units in February, its monthly output witnessed a double-digit month-on-month increase in March, as BBAC completed all production and operation tasks for the first quarter on schedule, despite supply chain challenges. “In Q1, we successfully achieved numerous production and operation goals, marking a robust start to the year,” said Jörg Bartels, President & CEO of BBAC. “Following our product strategy spanning both electric vehicles and combustion engine vehicles, we have continued to enrich our localized Mercedes-Benz product matrix to better meet the diversified needs of Chinese consumers. Having passed the milestone of five million vehicles produced, we will continue to uphold the Mercedes-Benz standard as we build the most desirable vehicles for consumers.” “Since the beginning of the year, in the face of multiple challenges such as fierce market competition, we have sought progress,” said Zhang Zhengye, Party Secretary and Senior Executive Vice President of BBAC. “Going all out with an attitude of firm resolve, we have made a good start to the achievement of our annual goals. As we go forward, we will continue to focus on our main business, adhering to innovation-driven progress and further enhancing our core competitiveness, to promote the company’s high-quality development through practical operating results.” BBAC’s strong performance in the first quarter was driven in large part by the company’s accelerated promotion of digital transformation, enabling consistent improvements in production quality and efficiency. BBAC uses digital twin technology using the MO360 ecosystem, and virtual space to support advance simulation of production lines, machines and supply routes for new models, significantly improving efficiency through a “digital first” approach and helping to ensure product quality. BBAC is working to expand the use of digital twin technology to cover the full life cycle of its products, harnessing digital core technologies to accelerate the creation of new quality productive forces and create new advantages to power high-quality development. As BBAC continues the in-depth application of digital technologies, the company is also consistently advancing its low-carbon and energy-efficient transformation, committed to building a sustainable future. On March 22, World Water Day, BBAC officially released a new water conservation initiative for all employees and third-party partners, part of BBAC’s wider efforts to ensure that sustainable production and work methods extend across not only the entire company, but throughout the industrial chain. As part of this process, BBAC has continued to enhance the industry-leading operation models of its plants, providing sustainable momentum for the development of new quality productive forces. BBAC’s self-produced distributed photovoltaic power output is set to exceed 30 million kWh. The purchased green power is reaching 300 million kWh in 2024. BBAC’s advances in production and operation in the first quarter put the company on track for continued high-quality development throughout the year, injecting strong impetus into its “electric, digital and low carbon ” transformation. Moving forward, BBAC will continue to enhance its intelligent manufacturing capabilities, with a focus on building new quality productive forces, making new contributions to the transformation and upgrading of the high-end automobile manufacturing industry in Beijing.
