Recently, the locally-produced Mercedes-Benz standard wheelbase C-Class, just making its debut at 2015 Shanghai Automobile Exhibition, officially rolled off-line in the MRA I Assembly Plant of BBAC. As a star vehicle model highly anticipated by the market, the standard wheelbase C-Class inherits Daimler’s global cutting edge manufacturing process and quality standard, while injecting more sports genes and demonstrating a young attitude and vitality. Its arrival combines harmoniously with the long wheelbase C-Class, which will fully satisfy Chinese customer’s demand for both pleasant driving experience and comfortable driving space, expand further the advantage of BBAC in this market segment, and assist BBAC to step into the fast development lane to become a leading domestic luxury automobile brand.

Compared with the long wheelbase C-class on the market, the standard wheelbase C-class rolling off-line this time has created a more sporty vehicle body and more flexible handling performance with a wheelbase of 2,840mm. Meanwhile, the standard wheelbase C-Class, inheriting the same quality as its brother models, carries a pure Chinese core and integrates many of the world’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes. First of all, thanks to the application of the Mercedes-Benz M274 turbo-charging direct injection engine produced by the BBAC Engine Plant, the standard wheelbase C-Class has an acceleration performance unattainable for other brands at the same level. This engine incorporates the most advanced technologies of Mercedes-Benz such as turbo-charging, direct injection, stratified combustion, adjustable oil pump, and intelligent start-stop. It can output the largest peak torque of its class at 1,200 rpm, which perfectly balances the naturally aspirated smooth and turbocharged excellent throttle response, creates a consistent power output, and also achieves the integration of strong power, low oil consumption and low emission. This shows that the standard wheelbase C-Class has unique charm and core advantages as a sports model.

At present, the plant can make assembly production of Mercedes-Benz long wheelbase C-Class, standard wheelbase C-Class and E-Class through a flexible conveyor chain system suitable for mixed production of multiple models, as well as lean production methods such as modularized assembly, in-time production, zero-storage management and pull-production. Looking at the Daimler Global Plant, there are few assembly plants that can realize the assembly production of vehicle models with three wheelbases on the same production line as the BBAC MRA I.
