Recently, the production inauguration ceremony of Mercedes-Benz M270 engine was grandly held at BBAC Engine Plant. Mr. Frank Deiss, (President and CEO of BBAC) and Mr. Chen Hongliang (Party Secretary and Senior Executive Vice President of BBAC) attended the ceremony. With the production commencement of M270 engines, it represents that three engine series of Mercedes-Benz (i.e. M270, M274 and M276) that the BBAC Engine Plant planned to introduce at the start of the design phase have fully entered the serial production phase and successfully realized the supply to finished vehicle production of all BBAC series. This milestone not only prepares necessary “core” for subsequent finished vehicle model upgrading, but also injects vigor into the 10th anniversary of BBAC celebration.

The Production of Mercedes- Benz M270 Engine Officially Came into Production at BBAC Engine Plant

At the ceremony, Mr. Frank Deiss (President & CEO of BBAC) thanked the Engine Plant team for their efforts and hard working. He expressed, “M270 engine is the third core product at BBAC Engine Plant after M274 and M276 and also a powerful Chinese core for domestically-produced GLA model. Its arrival will undoubtedly enable us to highly expect for the future of Chinese market. Of course, we should also look to the future and prepare for the long-term development. I believe that, with such an excellent team, we will be able to overcome all challenges and achieve the goal of production and sales smoothly at the highest quality! ”

Moreover, Mr. Chen Hongliang (BBAC Party Secretary & Senior Executive Vice President) highly praised the work achievements of the Engine Plant and acclaimed their vigorous work style, steadfast and industrious attitude and a spirit of solidarity. Meanwhile, he expressed his hope to the future development of the Engine Plant, “2015 marks the harvest of the 12th Five-Year Planning, the first year of BAIC Motor to go public and the final year of completing BBAC big projects. Hopefully, the engine plant could become a benchmarking team at BBAC by keeping a high morale and hardworking attitude, so as to lead employees company-wide to achieve 2015 production and operation goals and develop BBAC into “internationalized benchmarking manufacturer in the Chinese premium passenger vehicle market”.

As an outstanding representative of new generation Mercedes-Benz engines with small and medium displacement and one of three major engines introduced by BBAC Engine Plant, M270 engine is unanimously acclaimed in the European market thanks to its excellent performance. Similar to produced M274 and M276 engines, M270 engines have adopted leading technologies such as direct injection, pressure ejector and low inertia turbocharging technology and innovative technology, such as multiple spark ignition technology, Lanchester balancer, adjustable oil pump and intelligent shutdown, created maximum power of 155KW and the maximum output torque of 350N/m. M270 engines represent unremitting pursuit of outstanding performance advocated by centennial Mercedes-Benz brand, while reducing fuel consumption, emissions and noise. This small but robust “heart” boosts the confidence of GLA model, which power performance is similar to GLK. Let it take GLA drivers to head down to their destination.

Mercedes- Benz M270 Engine

Of course, the successful production of M270 engine owes to the amazing development of BBAC Engine Plant in recent years. Since the foundation stone laying in July 2011, this Daimler’s first overseas engine plant for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars outside of Germany has attracted worldwide attention, not only carrying the trust and confidence of both German and Chinese shareholders, but also fulfilling the important mission to supply power to Mercedes-Benz brands and galvanize them to explore Chinese market. To achieve these goals, both Chinese and German team work together, not only fully adopting Mercedes-Benz’s standard process of "safe environment, process technology and product quality” in each process of BBAC Engine Plant, but also completed several major tasks through repeated testing, in combination of wisdom and perseverance and based on Daimler’s global quality standard. Under these efforts, from M276 engine successfully commenced production in August 2013, to M274 engine successfully passed Daimler quality release and went offline in November 2013, and then to three core parts (i.e. cylinder block, cylinder head and crankshaft) successfully exported to Germany in June 2014, BBAC has been successfully included in Daimler global purchase supply chain system. Along with the 100,000th engine went offline in January2015, all employees of Engine Plant make their due contribution to achieve the goal - producing globally leading core parts and high-quality engines! This goal also serves as a driving force for BBAC Engine Plant to realize continuous development and expansion and a key reason why Chinese automakers could win the respect and recognition of global automotive industry.

Today, the Engine Plant makes new achievements, successfully commences M270 engine production and realizes the serialized production of three engine series (M270, M274 and M276). More importantly, for BBAC at the fast growing development stage, the successful launch of three series engines has brought more choices to introduce new models and upgrade existing models subsequently, and also safeguarded the successful implementation of product layout, corporate development and other strategies. Based on these, BBAC will accelerate to implement strategic projects, adhere to optimized product structure, further release capacity and expand product lineup on the occasion of the 10th anniversary celebration, to meet growing market demand, stand out from fierce competition and develop into an “internationalized benchmarking manufacturer in the Chinese premium passenger vehicle market”!
